Vanessa N and Eîlot Tuerie, the publishers of Copy, believe that plagiarism enriches human language. Plagiarism is inherent in all artistic activity. Both pictorial and literary arts function with an inherited language, even when their practitioners aim at overthrowing this received syntax (as happened with modernism and post-modernism). In short, we don’t want new sentences or new images—old sentences and images reframed or not—are good enough.
