On March 11, 2020 @piss_america was deleted by Instagram. This censorship occurred as a result of an organized attack by several self-identified fascists, many of whom were breaking Instagram’s anti-hate and anti-bullying guidelines, yet were not removed themselves. One of our posts had over 100 nasty comments.
Many feminist art accounts were harassed on March 8 (International Women’s Day) by these people and Instagram failed to recognized this ideological attack against feminist womxn and queers. I reported dozens of accounts and wrote a letter that remains unanswered.

Moving forward, I’ve decided to co-opt bright colorful dots inspired by John Baldessari’s series, placed them over the crotches and asses of our beloved Pissers. I miss the more brazen imagery (which will appear in the book) but am aiming to glean a new aesthetic in conversation with Baldessari’s series. Who knows what will come of this…perhaps a spin off zine of dot pics?
